DIY Car Tips

Do It Yourself Car Tips from Stokes Honda North-

We know that when it comes to cars everyone is at a different level. Some people are able to look at a car and know everything, or close to it, about it. Others are less fortunate in car knowledge, which is what we’re here for. We want to give you some easy do it yourself car tips so you can help keep your Honda in its best shape!

There are hundreds upon hundreds of tips on the internet on how to help keep your vehicle operating at its peak performance. We chose some of the ones we found most important or beneficial and they’re listed below!

1. Park in the Shade – We know that soaking up the sun gives us some great Vitamin D, but not for our cars. Leaving your car in those UV rays can cause damage to the interior of your car. Try to park in the shade and if there is none available use a car shade in your windshield.

2. Keep the Interior Clean – Even though this one might not seem like a huge deal but allowing you car to become dirty on the inside can actually cause damage to theinside. This will cause your car to lose value.
3. Wax – After you wash your car it’s very important to wax it. This will help keep your vehicle shining like new and will help prevent it from rusting!

4. Tape broken light covers – If you have a crack in one of your light covers it’s important to tape it. If water gets in a broken light cover it can cause serious damage. All you need to do to avoid it is to find some cheap light tape and cover the crack until you can get it replaced.

5. Keep proper tire inflation – We know this one is pretty basic but it’s still important. Your tires need more air in the winter to balance out the cold and less in the summer to balance out the heat. Make sure your tires are properly inflated so you get the best ride in your vehicle!

6. Check the tread – Continuing on with the tires, making sure you have the proper tread on your tires is very important. If you wear the tread on your tires too much it can cause issues with the handling of your car and even cause your tire to go flat! One of the easiest tricks to determine if you need new tires or not is the penny trick. Place a penny in the tread of your tire and if the tread touches the top of Abe’s head, you’re good. If it doesn’t, well it’s time you look into getting some new tires for your ride.
